Opportunity
The Director of IS at May Stores needed to provide portable cash registers that could be quickly and easily deployed throughout the companies portfolio of retail stores to optimize sales and customer service during peak store traffic periods.

Solution
May embedded the AN192 PLC technology inside POS terminals and ran bench and
field-tests. After a successful test, May and Adaptive began a 6-month software
integration development project. The solution included several units multiplexed
to a single unit attached to the stores high-speed fiber optic network backbone.
Results
The technology was deployed throughout May’s portfolio of retail companies
(300+ stores) providing the identical rate of “lost network transactions”
as their existing hardwired solution. This rate met and exceeded May’s acceptable
limit.
