Opportunity/Problem
Provide Real-time passenger information systems for public mass transit. Send data to public information displays on trains without running additional wires. RF reception in transit is poor.

Requirements

  • No new wires
  • BER 1 x 10-9

Solution
An RF program is downloaded to the main communications unit on the controlling train at the originating station. Updates to the program are made via RF at other stations. Onboard the train, the system uses the available emergency brake line on trains to distribute to multiple displays containing Adaptive's chipset. Trains can be coupled and uncoupled instantaneously.
