InSite
Simulation Tools are the culmination of many years of Adaptive Networks' experience
developing and applying communications on challenging impaired media such as the
powerline. InSite is a significant breakthrough for customers enabling
the verification of communications performance before major design and implementation
investments are made.
Here are three
examples.

| ABB
Subsea Gas Production Communication Systems |
|
| ABB
installs large-scale, mission-critical subsea communications systems for gas production
customers that use fibre from the surface and Adaptive's powerline communications
to the numerous operations and devices at the bottom. Communications through the
powerline takes place at multiple branches with multiple network spurs - a very
complex and intensive installation in remote locations. Since ABB does not have
the luxury of "trying" the modems on any given network until the system
is installed, they MUST be able to model the network and the communications system,
to mitigate the risk of having connectivity problems when the system is installed.
ABB uses InSite to predict the operability of the modems on any subsea
network considering the use of Adaptive's modems. Thus InSite is
giving ABB the extra confidence to pursue their subsea communications business
using Adaptive's powerline communications. |

| VDSL
Technology Developer |
 |
|
Adaptive
was approached by a developer of a promising DSL technology. The company believed
it was possible to provide much higher throughput speeds at much greater distances
over impaired copper phone lines than had ever been achieved in practice. In cooperation
with the DSL company Adaptive Networks defined the topology and noise and channel
properties of impaired copper phone lines in the field. This information was input
into InSite including parameters for the copper phoneline environment
and Adaptive technology. Insite simulations proved that a new level of performance
over far greater distances can be achieved. This gave the DSL company the confidence
to proceed. |

Broadband Powerline
Internet Access is a burgeoning field with great promise. Many companies are seeking
to rapidly exploit this opportunity. One such company, with a strong desire to
overcome market skepticsm and validate their approach, asked Adaptive to provide
tools for simulating peformance. In this way, they could confidently go to market
to win business with utilities knowing that their technology solution was rock
solid.
