Problem

CENELEC in Europe had recently allocated the 9 - 95 kHz frequency band exclusively to the utility industry. Adaptive's AN192 product operates in the 140 to 400 kHz range making it non-compliant with the new regulations.

.

Solution
Adaptive modified its AN192 product to operate in the the allocated frequency range with a throughput speed of 4.8 Kbps and won an IEC standard for Distribution Automation Using Distribution Line Carrier Systems.

Result
Adaptive introduced the AN48 product with throughput of 4.8 Kbps--a CENELEC compliant product and an IEC Standard for automated meter reading . IKUSI deployed the solution for the electric utility Iberdrola in over 25,000 homes and buildings in Spain.
