Adaptive Equalization and PowerStream™ Digital Frequency Domain Equalizer (FDE)

A network is more than a point-to-point link. It must be able to support multiple transmissions to multiple nodes simultaneously. In conjunction with Wideband Modulation, Adaptive's products use an Adaptive Equalizer in which each node on the network is an independent transceiver able to adaptively equalize to powerline distortion at different locations and different times. The equalizer boosts the signal at different frequencies to account for differences in attenuation caused by the powerline, allowing the receiver to "hear" the powerline signal as it was intended.

Combined with maximum probability of reception enabled by fast synchronization and short frames, adaptive equalization serves as the foundation for very low latency isochronous communications.

PowerStream™ adds a significant enhancement to our proven analog equalizer found in the AN Pro-Line™ AN1000, AN192 and AN48 products. Patented digital Frequency Domain Equalization (FDE) permits dynamic, instantaneous, "on-the-fly" adaptation to the inconsistencies of powerlines for the low latency requirements of multimedia communications. By using a more efficient and instantaneous method to achieve a low dedicated wire-like BER of 1 x 10-9, we're able to reduce the need for retransmissions and dramatically increase our ability to connect everywhere in a house at the highest possible throughput.
